Platform Doors: In the lines including Pink Line and Magenta Line, Delhi Metro has installed platform doors that let to avoid any misshapen. Suicide cases are being reported as people get in front of the metro train. This is now avoided from platform doors. Existing platforms are still not having platform doors, excluding very few like New Delhi, Chandani Chowk, Chawari Bazar and Central Secretariat on Yellow Line.

Planning of Delhi Metro started back in 1984. Later Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was incorporated in 1995 and for the very first time construction of Delhi Metro started in 1998.

Now, the Delhi Metro might have inspired Mumbai's stint with Metro which not only took forever to finish but promptly drowned at the fist sign of rain! At the risk of commencing another Delhi-Mumbai war here, I must say that Mumbai might benefit by taking a few lessons from the Delhi Metro. Agreed?

The emission cost saving will also increase almost three times from Rs.14.29 crore in 2007 to Rs.41.04 crore in 2009.

Number of vehicles off the road : Since the Metro began operations in December 2002, there has been a progressive reduction in daily vehicle demand due to the people shifting to Metro for commuting. In 2009, the Metro will take the daily share of 57,953 vehicles for all other modes of travel such as cars, buses, two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, etc.

The Metro will help avoid a total of 255 accidents, including 51 fatalities, in 2009. In 2007, the respective figures were 196 and 21.

On 24th December 2002 Delhi Metro ran for the very first time on tracks for public between Shahdara and Tis Hazari, Red Line of the Delhi Metro which was inaugurated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Prime Minister of India. It caused the ticketing system to collapse due to the line being crowded to four times than its capacity.

Delhi Metro is the second oldest metro service to start in India after Kolkata Metro.

There was a time when I used to wait for a DTC bus to show up at a bus stop for 20-30 minutes. Now compare that to hardly one or two minutes of waiting time for a metro. And what if you miss one? There's no tears spilled as the next is just a minute away!

Okay, at the risk of receiving flak, let me say that I seriously didn’t expect Delhi Metro to remain clean all this while. After all, this is India; and having a litter-free, non-paan-spit painted space is a rarity! So, definitely kudos to the administration for keeping it uber clean even after all these years. On an average Delhi Metro carries 2.76 million passengers everyday. In year 2016-17 it served more than 100 crore people.

The Delhi Metro is not just beautiful but it is designed for maximum comfort and convenience. Also, the technological features like amazing frequency, regular announcements, automated doors and the likes were a world apart when they started. Truly "international" standards!
