Akshardham Temple has found a place in the Guinness Book of Records for being the largest comprehensive Hindu temple in the world. The most amazing thing about this huge temple complex is that it took only five years to be completes, which is something surprising. As many as 11000 artisans and countless volunteers had a contribution in the construction of this temple, which was inaugurated in November 2005.

The garden of the Akshardham Temple is structured like a Lotus flower. It is also known as the Bharat Upavan. Every petal of this flower holds and bears messages from visionary, revolutionary, evolutionary, divine, and epic personalities of the world.

This is Parikrama made of red stones from Rajasthan, consisting 1,152 pillars and 145 windows. It surrounds the temple like a beautiful garland.

This temple was officially inaugurated on 6th November 2005 by former president of India, Late Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Parikrama in Akshardham: The beautiful Akshardham parikrama (circumambulatory path) consists of 1,152 pillars, 145 windows and 154 samvaran shikhars; amounting to a total of 53,956 stones. The 3000ft long pavement also has 1200 pillars and 155 pinnacles to adorn it.

The creation and the making of this temple were moderated and supervised by an organization named BAPS (Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha). Around 3000 volunteer workers and 7000 established artisans helped this organization to build this beautiful temple. It was officially inaugurated on 6th November 2005. The structure was designed in such a way that this temple can last for at least 1000 years more.

The temple covers a huge amount of ground. It is an architectural masterpiece that is huge in all its aspects. The temple covers a land mass of about 83,342 square feet. The major cum central monument is also grand in its length, breadth, and width. This 350 feet long, 315 feet wide, and 141 feet high monument is absolutely attractive.

The external wall of the temple is intricately carved. The wall is decorated with 200 sculptured stone figures of holy figures of India.
