Tipu Sultan is credited with the replacement of the original names of several places with Muslim names. During his reign, Mangalore was changed to Jalalabad, Mysore to Nazarabad, Bepur to Sultanpatanam, Cannanore to Kusanabad, Gooty to Faiz-Hissar, Dharwar to Quarshed-Sawad, Dindigul to Khaliqabad, Ratnagiri to Mustafabad, Kozhikode to Islamabad, and Dindigul to Khaliqabad

Tipu's power rested not only on his large, excellent army but on the great prosperity of the state he developed through humane and systematic agrarian and mercantilistic policies.

Tipu Sultan had lost his sword in a war with the Nairs of Travancore during the Battle of Nedumkotta (1789), in which he was forced to withdraw due to a severe joint attack from the Travancore army and the British army

Sultan was killed in the fourth Anglo-Mysore war while defending his fort of Srirangapatnam against the combined forces of the British East India Company and the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore is known for his heroic acts in the wars and the sacrifices he made to save his land from foreign invaders. He saved Deccan India from the British for a long period but not all the South Indians loved this martyr.

Many of us will unaware about the fact that Tipu Sultan is considered a pioneer in rocket artillery.These rockets were known to be Mysorean Rockets at that time.

He is attributed for establishing the 40-acre Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore.

Tipu Sultan used them effectively against the British East India Company during the 1780s and 1790s. The technology used by them led Britishers to develop Congreve Rocket Technology.

The Strange but the best fact about these rockets were the concept of using sword and blade as guiding vanes which makes them most devastating weapon.

Tipu Sultan's father, Hyder Ali served as the Military Officer in the Mysore kingdom and became the most powerful person by 1761.
