Stories also began to deal with social issues such as pollution, race relations, and drug abuse.

A Spider-Man story arc from 1971 dealing with drug abuse had to be published without the approval of the Comic Code Authority—the self-regulatory body that had policed comic content since 1954—despite the fact that it was portraying drug use in a negative light.

This caused the Comic Code Authority to revise its policy in such matters.

This is another weird one since, like Iron Man, Hank Pym's strength is reliant on technology and isn't exactly super.

By this we mean that as Hank Pym increases his size, his strength is increasing proportionally; it is not exceeding that of a "normal" human, just growing with his size. But, technicalities aside, Giant Man's strength is greater than some of Marvel's strongest heroes, and it only goes up as he grows larger.

The Marvel Wiki strength scale puts Hank Pym's strength at 100 tons or more as long as he exceeds 100 feet, which means every foot he goes beyond that further increases the strength he has.

In the 21st century Marvel’s profits were increasingly derived from toys, video games, and other merchandise featuring their most popular characters and from the production of a string of commercially successful movies.

While this would be enough to put him higher up on the list, because of the fact that his strength is both inconsistent and reliant on growing past a certain size, we're going to put him at number 12.

Those films differed from prior efforts to translate comics to the big screen in that they were set in a single shared world.

That ambitious plan generated huge dividends with The Avengers (2012), a film that featured Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America—three heroes that had scored individual blockbuster successes—and grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide.

ove over Superman, Colossus is the REAL man of steel. On top of the nearly unbreakable shield that his mutant power provides him with, Colossus's metal muscles are easily some of the strongest in the entire Marvel universe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it came to be known, grew into one of the most lucrative franchises in film history. Its success spawned a wave of television programs, beginning with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013– ) on ABC and continuing with Daredevil (2015– ), Jessica Jones (2015– ), and Luke Cage (2016– ), a string of critically lauded series that appeared on Netflix.

This is because his metal form is not just a shield that covers his skin, his mutant power is actually the ability to convert his entire body's cellular structure into that of a hyper-dense, super strong carbon-steel-like metal, which is as cool and powerful as it sounds.

In 2015 an agreement between Disney and Sony brought Spider-Man (who had previously appeared only in Sony-produced films) into the shared universe; the character would subsequently be available for use by both studios.

Outside of his metal form, Piotr Rasputin is already an incredibly strong individual, possessing the build of a champion bodybuilder.

Marvel Studios, the company’s film and television division, continued to set records with its flagship Avengers, but it also packed theatres with relatively unknown heroes such as the Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Ant-Man (2015), and Doctor Strange (2016).

Add to this metal muscles, bones, skin, etc., and you've got some god-like strength, which is in the "100 tons" and up category. Of course, it is more than likely much higher up, since this category is also listed as "incalculable," meaning he earns a higher ranking.

By 2016 more than a dozen films had been released under the banner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the franchise’s cumulative global box office receipts had topped $10 billion.

There are quite a few Marvel superheroes whose super strength falls under the "100 tons or more" class, and the strength scale we used for reference doesn't put them in any particular order.

During the 1990s and early 2000s a new wave of writers, including Brian Michael Bendis (Daredevil, The Avengers), Jonathan Hickman (Fantastic Four), and Ed Brubaker (Captain America), became well known for their mature and sometimes controversial takes on Marvel’s characters.

The 2010s saw the emergence of another new wave of talent, with writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja turning in a visually arresting run on Hawkeye, longtime Spider-Man writer Dan Slott teaming with artist Mike Allred for a bold take on a classic character in Silver Surfer, and writer G.
