Tell about Chennai and their Beaches ?

Besant nagar beach named after Anniesland be sant, is close to the Theosophical Society in adayar,from the madras central railway station the beach is about 30 to 40 minutes drive, from the airport around the same time depending on the traffic.

The beach is clean and less crowded than The Marina beach,but for a foreigner it may not make any difference, one can walk to the church or visit the ashta lakshmi temple nearby,lot of eating places and resturants on the beachfront, for south Indian food there is Murugan idli,for seafood lot of choices ,overall a pleasant beach to spend your evening it's really a lovely beaches in always prefer it to the marina beach.

By the way for shopping lovers plenty of shops to shop for bags,clothes,footwear.

There is Dora bag mall for bags, Fab India for ethnic Indian wear and so forth.

If interested in theosophy you can start a bit early say around 3 pm in the evening and visit the Theosophical Society too and then visit the besant nagar beach.

There is no specific location or route but you can visit this beach by taking any beach road that goes to shore from ECR road in Thiruvanmiyur.

These beaches are also one of well-maintained beach and is very near to the posh residential area.

Covelong Beach or commonly called as Kovalam beach(not to confuse with Kovalam, Kerala) is located at a place called Kovalam, a small fisher folks village and 40 km away from south of Chennai city in ECR road.

This beach is also bit crowded in the weekend and it is most visited by people who live in south of Chennai.

This is one of the few places where you can find water sports activities like wind surfing are still entertained.

This beach is located in a town called Mahabalipuram where the UNESCO recognized King Pallava period monument is present.

The beach is very near the Shore Temple monument and it is also a sandy beach.
