The 6-lane Yamuna Expressway connecting Greater Noida with Agra was inaugurated in the year 2012. The INR 124 Billion project is unique expressway infrastructure that starts at Greater Noida and ends on National Highway 2 on Kuberpur.

The Yamuna Expressway took 5 years to move from paper to reality. The construction was scheduled to start in 2003 but got delayed till 2007 due to financial crisis. Driving at 100-120 kmph, you can reach Taj Mahal in Agra from Delhi International Aiport in 90 minutes flat. The right lane is reserved for overtaking at high speeds. Heavy vehicles are escorted out of expressway if they breach the speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour. There are SOS tool booths throughout the track to make emergency calls.

Expect a decent appreciation in the property rates once the real estate market catches up along the 16445 km track. There are close to 334 villages and towns located along the Yamuna Expressway like Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahar, Aligarh, Mahamaya Nagar (Hatras), Mathura and Agra that have been identified as potential Tier II towns in the future. In the construction of Yamuna Expressway, total investment of Rs. 10000 Crore has been incurred in land acquisition, earth works, construction of structures and pavement, etc.

I here are about 380 structures on Yamuna Expressway which inter-alia includes culverts, minor bridges, underpasses, vehicular underpasses, interchanges, etc. More than one opening/crossing per Km has been constructed to suit the convenience of the local residents on both sides of the Yamuna Expressway.

At peak of the work, over 10000 workers worked on this project providing opportunities for direct employment and indirectly giving benefits to more than 50000 persons in the entire stretch.

165 Kms of Haulage Road of 5.5 mtr width have been provided along the Yamuna Expressway, out of which more than 20 Km has been black topped of 7 mtr width for the use of local residents.
