What is story of Buddha ?

Hindus believe that Gautama Buddha was an avatar of the god Vishnu.
Rahula became the youngest monk at the very age of 7.
Buddha spent 29 years as a prince in Kapilavastu.

Buddha’s story spread by word of mouth quickly in the ancient world, but had many different “versions”. European travelers documented their discovery of a religion known as Buddhism in Asia. They would often retell the stories. This, of course, included the origin of Buddhism.

the origin became the transformation of a sinner into a saint in Christianity…and instead of Buddha, it was Josaphat. Many other stories were written about Josaphat, and his tales were loved by many Christians. They included healings and prophesying.

Approximately 500 million people around the world, or about 10% of the world's population, practice Buddhism.

The prince reached his late 20s with little experience of the world outside the walls of his opulent palaces, but one day he ventured out beyond the palace walls and was quickly confronted with the realities of human frailty: He saw a very old man, and Siddhartha's charioteer explained that all people grow old.

When Buddha’s stories began to across the world, Greek architecture and sculptures dominated artistry and influenced much of the work. This also extended to Buddhist statues.

Some Buddhist monks practice sokushinbutsu ("a Buddha in this very body"), which is a type of self-mummification. Between the 12th and early 20th century, monks would eat pine needles, berries, tree bark, resin, and certain herbs to help starve and preserve the body

Questions about all he had not experienced led him to take more journeys of exploration, and on these subsequent trips he encountered a diseased man, a decaying corpse and an ascetic.

Most monastic orders, especially at that time, did not allow females to participate. But Buddha did. This was a stark contrast to the exclusive Brahman caste of India, with its male-dominated system.

Unlike many other religions, there is no central text in Buddhism.

The charioteer explained that the ascetic had renounced the world to seek release from the human fear of death and suffering.

Many times, people think that the “fat Buddha” (often seen in Chinese restaurants) is Buddha; but that’s not true. The fat Buddha is a representation of a Buddhist monk that lived in the early 900’s.

Siddhartha was overcome by these sights, and the next day, at age 29, he left his kingdom, wife and son to lead an ascetic life, and determine a way to relieve the universal suffering that he now understood to be one of the defining traits of humanity.

This saintly monk was known as Hotei a Budai. The confusion comes from the teaching that everyone is a Buddha themselves, but has yet to uncover it…but apparently, this man did. That’s why you’ll only see China with this depiction; the rest of Asia shows Buddha as slender.

The Ascetic Life and Enlightenment

Buddhism was a stark contrast to many of the orthodox teachings of Hinduism in its day.

Often, statues of the Buddha depict him with short, curly hair to show that he denounced his privileged past. Usually, the wealthy elite would sport a fashionable topknot

For the next six years, Siddhartha lived an ascetic life and partook in its practices, studying and meditating using the words of various religious teachers as his guide.

Perhaps the greatest example of this is the conception of gods in Buddhism: there are none! Buddha did not believe that gods or goddess were really relevant to the supreme goal of enlightenment…therefore, they could be left out of the main teachings.

Statues of the Buddha often show him with half closed eyes, which is meant to show a state of meditation and, moreover, a state of indifference to the material world

He practiced his new way of life with a group of five ascetics, and his dedication to his quest was so stunning that the five ascetics became Siddhartha's followers.

Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) came from a Hindu family, and both religions overlap somewhat. The major difference is that Hinduism is clearly a theistic religion, whereas Buddhism is mostly non-theistic

When answers to his questions did not appear, however, he redoubled his efforts, enduring pain, fasting nearly to starvation, and refusing water.
