What is most economical channel section?
A channel section is considered to be most economical or most efficient when it passes a maximum discharge for given cross section area, resistance coefficient, and bottom slope.

Allocation through markets often fails because of the existence of externalities, public goods, common property resources and market power. We analyse how to reach an optimal allocation of resources and a reduction in poverty.

1. MOST ECONOMICAL CHANNEL SECTION: APPLICABILITY TO RECTANGULAR AND TRAPEZOIDAL CHANNELS MADE BY : VAIBHAV PATHAK MECHANICAL B.TECH 3 YEAR

When using a wide flange or I-beam section for long beams, the compression flanges tend to buckle horizontally sidewise.

This buckling is a column effect, which may be prevented by providing lateral support such as a floor system so that the full allowable stresses may be used, otherwise the stress should be reduced.

The reduction of stresses for these beams will be discussed in steel design.
