Rishikesh has the world’s best home which is 133 years old Kailash Ashram Brahmavidyapitham, which is dedicated in preserving and promotinf the traditional Vedanta Studies of the past. The institute has the history of educating Swami Vivekananda, Swami Rama Tirtha and Swami Sivananda too.

The literacy rate was 86.86% if compared to the national average of 74.04%. Rishikesh, also known as Hrishikesh is a city, municipal corporation and a tehsil in Dehradun district of the Indian state, Uttarakhand.

The rafting camps are needed to stop as it is the leading factor of the pollution of Ganga, as it discharges effluent, and people throw waste which is disturbing the ecological environment of Rishikesh. When the rafting camps are established on the sites, they are temporary and beautiful, so the places will also lack in sanitation and sewage facility. Several myths are associated with this place. A common believe is that a saint namely Raibhya Rishi came here and performed penance on the Ganges River bank. Being contented with his gestures, Lord Vishnu appeared to him in shape of this beautiful city Hrishikesh which is now known as Rishikesh. This place gained popularity after the Adi Shankaracharya visited it in the 9th century. He was regarded as popular religious chief of modern era. It is also stated that Lord Rama came here to seek repentance for killing Ravana who was the demon. His younger brother crossed this River Ganges at the spot where the bridge made from jute is standing today. By law this city is considered a vegetarian place and a holy city too.

Rishikesh has been a part of the legendary ‘Kedarkhand’ (the nowadays Day Garhwal).Legends state that Lord Rama did self-mortification here for killing Ravana, the asura king of Lanka; and Lakshmana, his younger brother, crossed the river Ganges , at a point, where the present tense ‘Lakshman Jhula’bridge circuit work base today , using a jute forget me drug bridge.The ‘Kedarkhand’ of Skanda Purana, also mentions the existence of Indrakund at this very point. The jute-circle bridge was replaced by Fe -rope suspension bridge in 1889.

Rishikesh climates is never too extreme to visit the lieu . The town is cooler than most of Indian cities. Throughout the year, temperature remains between 0°C to 40 °C. During monsoon season (late July to mid-September) there is heavy rainfall in the region. The best time to visit Rishikesh is during leap season (mid-February to late mid-May) and fall season (mid-September to Nov ). If you are plan to visit Rishikesh after November, make sure you carry heavy winter clothing with you, since it gets quite frigidity here during winter .

Rishikesh is situated at 78.294754°E 30.103368°N. It has a standard elevation of 1,745 feets (372 meters). The Tehri Dam is just 80 km rising on the way to Gangotri. Rishikesh is the starting point for travelling to Char Dham pilgrimages: Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri. Rishikesh is also well-known for ayurvedic treatment. Many ayurveda centres are here where ayurvedic classes are provided by expert doctors.

In September 2015, the Union tourism minister Mahesh Sharma announced that Rishikesh and Haridwar will be the first in India to be given the title of "twin national heritage cities"

Since ancient times, Rishikesh has been a symbol of Hindu rituals and the place is correlate with many Hindu legends. Due to the religious significance of this place, carnivorous food and wine rituals strictly forbidden city organises annual International Yoga Festival.

Located on foothill of Himalaya mountains, it presents a fresh and cool flee during summers. March-April and also September-October is an ideal visiting time. From second quarter the weather gets hotter and in July-August, heavy showers are experienced making the place muddy and mushy. In the monsoon season the climate is humid with roads and pavements being more slippery because of the steepness this hilly area has. Due to the religious significance of the place, non-vegetarian food and alcohol are strictly prohibited in Rishikesh. The city hosts the annual International Yoga Festival.

Although Rishikesh is famous for Yoga schools, the scope of yoga education in Rishikesh has now been continued to Ayurveda. There are a lot schools in Rishikesh which is attempt by Ayurveda and yoga teacher training programs.
